CLASS DATES COMING FOR 2020

Prerequisite:  Refine or JOAD/AAP member

Ages:  Archers must be 8 years old before December 31 of this year.

Equipment:  All equipment is provided, but archers can bring their own.

When you dedicate yourself to archery, you adopt an activity that is both ancient and modern so we want to introduce both aspects.  In Dedicate, we learn about modern equipment such as sights, stabilizers, carbon arrows, clickers, and synthetic strings. We’ll review how to use these items as well as the benefits of each.  From there, we will explore the world of tournaments by reviewing rules, formats, and scoring. We’ll touch base on training plans as well as the next step in Index Archers’ programs.

  • How to use a sight.

  • What are the benefits to using stabilizers or clickers.

  • The differences between carbon and aluminum arrows.

  • The differences between feather and plastic fletching.

  • How to build a string and the materials involved.

  • Arrow repairs and bow tuning.

Inspire will focus on how to set up in order to execute a better, stronger shot.  You got this!

Ready to unlock the secrets of precision and accuracy?  Refine your shooting form to gain precision, and accuracy will follow. Precision comes from setting up the foundation for a good shot while accuracy is achieved through consistent execution.

In Refine, archers learn how to make their shot happen while maintaining consistency in form.  The rewards gained from consistency become apparent when archers take the time to refine the precise tweaks associated with archery.

·         Understanding the details pertinent to the steps of shooting.

·         Executing a good shot.

·         Reflection:  taking the time to analyze your shots in addition to receiving feedback.

  • Layout of the range:  What do the floor markings mean?

  • Range commands:  When to shoot, when to collect arrows, when to wait.

  • Safety:  Where to stand, how to pull arrows, what to do on the shooting line.

  • Shooting:  Get started with the basic steps of shooting.

CLASS FAQS

CAN I STOP IN TO TAKE A CLASS OR JOIN A CLASS WITHOUT REGISTERING?

No. In order to give all class participants quality instruction time, we limit our classes to a certain number of students. Because of this, we require online pre-registration for all classes.

I PARTICIPATED IN ARCHERY AT CAMP AND/OR A RECREATIONAL SETTING.  DO I STILL NEED TO TAKE THE EXPLORE & INSPIRE CLASSES BEFORE TAKING REFINE OR DEDICATE?

Yes. At Index Archers, safety is our first concern.  We are not familiar with the details regarding safety and shooting form covered by courses offered at various camps or recreation departments.  However, we are confident our curriculum gives every archer a great start.  Our coaches are nationally certified with years of experience.
All students new to Index Archers are required to complete the Explore & Inspire classes to ensure they are equipped with the safety & technique knowledge required to succeed in the Refine & Dedicate classes.

CAN I BE REFUNDED FOR A CLASS THAT I PURCHASED IF I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND?

Due to our limited class space, all purchases are non-refundable. However, if you are unable to attend the session you registered for, notify us within 7 days of the first scheduled class, and we will be happy to apply your class voucher to a future session.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS WITHIN MY SESSION?

Each session includes 4 weekly classes. If you are unable to attend any of your scheduled classes, please notify your instructor ASAP.  As long as there is space, you will be invited to attend a class during a different time slot that same week.
